Opportunities to Love

We all want the same things in life:  Food, clothing, shelter, compassion, understanding, respect, acknowledgment, LOVE.  Many of the homeless have none of these to look forward to.  There are so many ways that we can help.

If you are wondering how you can help someone this holiday season, tune into this interview with Charles Strobel, the Director for the Campus for Human Development in Nashville, TN.   

This was a very special interview for me. It made me realize how grateful I am to have my basic needs met, and how much I can give to others. 

Charles Strobel has devoted his life to helping the homeless.

If you have special knowledge, you can teach a class to the homeless.  If you have used books to give away, you can donate them to the homeless.   If your church is willing, contact them about the "Room at the Inn" program of providing shelter for the homeless.   If you want to feel love, find ways to GIVE love this holiday season.  Check out their website to find a list of supplies needed, volunteer opportunities, and much more.

Recently, I spent some time focusing on what was most important in my life.  And being truly honest with myself, LOVE was at the top of the list.  More than health, money, career, status, anything, LOVE mattered the most.. After interviewing Dr. Scott and Shannon Peck for this radio interview, it became crystal clear what questions I should be asking each day.

"How loved do you feel in my presence?" 
"How much do I feel loved by others?" and "How much do I love myself?"

Also on this program, LORETTA PETERS  gave spiritual commentary on Katrina - The Bigger Picture. And it was Loretta who sent me the email from PATRICIA DIANA COTA-ROBLES that addressed why Katrina happened and the spiritual significance of this event.

Thousands are opening their homes

HURRICANE KATRINA - The subject of WINDOWS TO WELLNESS RADIO PROGRAM this Thursday , September 8th, is how we can help - and interviews with people who are REALLY helping.  You can listen on Thursday at 12 noon cst at RADIO FREE NASHVILLE or catch the podcast of the show posted here soon.

One can only imagine what it would be like, to lose your home, members of your family, have no where to go, have no water or food, or access to a bathroom or shower, and to feel totally vulnerable in an area where there is no place that you can really feel safe.  How can we help?  How can we feel better about our lives when so many people are in total desperation?  We can send money, donate blood or volunteer with the  AMERICAN RED CROSS or we can help in other ways.  Consider offering space in your home to a hurricane victim and their family.

There are websites now that are helping to connect those in need with those with available housing.
